COMING FEBRUARY 2022 to the MAC LAU
Le Philosophe et la Tomate
CONDUCTED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF EMPORIA, A SERIES OF MEETINGS BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND ART COURSES GIVEN BY XAVIER BROUILLETTE IN COLLABORATION WITH LE MUSÉE D’ART CONTEMPORAIN DES LAURENTIDES
FAIT DANS LE CADRE D’EMPORIA, UNE SÉRIE DE RENCONTRES ENTRE LA PHILOSOPHIE ET L’ART DONNÉ PAR XAVIER BROUILETTE EN COLLABORATION AVEC LE MUSÉE D’ART CONTEMPORAIN DES LAURENTIDES
Le Philosophe et la Tomate was completed in November of 2020 with the participation of philosopher Xavier Brouillette.
A surreal video filmed in Val-David Quebec on “The Patch” (Scarabée Vert community food resource project). It was commissioned from me by Le Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides (Québec), and due to COVID-19 delays, will be shown February to March of 2022 as part of the MAC LAU’s program EMPORIA.
The film contemplates a philosophical approach to our current environmental crises through the eyes of a dystopian RatKind figure. It is informed by Murray Bookchin’s philosophy of social ecology and the concept of degrowth put forward by Serge Latouche.
It serves as a prequel, inspiration and philosophical backdrop to projects being carried out as part of The Patch project.
